Job Purpose
The Cashier will provide world-class customer service at the point of sale, ensuring a seamless shopping experience for all Dis-Chem customers. You will be responsible for recording all transactions accurately and securely, preventing fraud risk, and maintaining a high standard of store professionalism.
Minimum Requirements
✅ Educational Requirements:

Grade 12 / 10– Essential
✅ Work Experience:

A minimum of 0-6 months experience in cashier/till operations

Previous retail experience advantageous
✅ Computer Literacy:

Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office

Comfortable using point-of-sale (POS) systems
Core Responsibilities

Provide friendly and efficient service at checkout counters

Accurately record and process all sales transactions

Accept various payment methods: cash, cards, vouchers, eBucks, Discovery, Multiply, etc.

Handle returns, exchanges, and refunds as per store policy

Maintain cash drawer integrity – no shortfalls, no errors

Place daily cash takings in drop safe as per SOP

Monitor and report suspicious behavior to store management

Ensure all outgoing stock is scanned and paid for

Respond to customer queries about store merchandise
-
Follow Dis-Chem’s 5-star communication standards

Apply Dis-Chem’s customer service policies and SOPs
