Minimum Requirements

To qualify for this role, candidates must meet the following:

• ✅ Blasting Certificate for Scheduled Mines – Hard Rock Mining (non-negotiable)

• ✅ Grade 10 or higher (Matric an advantage)

• ✅ Sound knowledge of underground mining standards, safety, and production

• ✅ Ability to work shifts and operate in confined spaces

• ✅ Medically fit for underground work

• ✅ Clear criminal record

• ✅ Good understanding of Mine Health & Safety Act (MHSA)

️ Duties and Responsibilities

As a General Miner at Valterra Platinum, you’ll be responsible for day-to-day underground mining operations. Your role will involve the safe handling of explosives and efficient rock breaking in line with legal, safety, and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute daily drilling, charging, and blasting activities

• Ensure safe scaling, cleaning, and support of working areas

• ️ Perform pre- and post-blast assessments and reports

• ️ Maintain equipment, machinery, and tools underground

• Apply strict safety measures and report unsafe conditions

• Supervise and guide miner assistants and team members

• Complete logbooks and production reports accurately

• Identify geological structures and potential hazards underground
