Azande Mkhungo

Raised in the KwaMashu township of Durban, Zama was immersed in a vibrant cultural scene, rich with music and community spirit, which fueled her passion for the arts. As the middle child of three, with both parents working as civil servants, she has always been the popular “IT” girl of her neighborhood. Her parents worked hard to give her and her siblings a good life, often shielding them from financial difficulties.

Though her family faced economic challenges, they instilled in Zama a strong sense of resilience and determination. From a young age, she had a talent for drama and loved expressing herself through fashion and performance. Zama dreams of becoming a famous actress, although she compromised with her parents’ wishes and pursued interior design instead of film school.

Throughout the series, Zama’s impulsiveness creates tension in her relationships and hinders her journey toward her dreams.

This role marks Azande’s first appearance on TV, similar to Nsikelelo Mthiyane, who is taking over the role of Sibongile from Luyanda Zwane. Azande earned a Bachelor of Arts in Live Performance from AFDA in Durban. Her character is one of four new faces introduced in Season 2 of *Sibongile & The Dlaminis*.
