New Muvhango Returns For New Season After Backlash Old Muvhango

The renowned soap opera “Muvhango” on SABC2 has finally announced its comeback for its 27th season, which will premiere on August 5, following much expectation and conjecture. According to Daily Sun, the revelation was made on July 25 at a premiere event held at Chartwell in Johannesburg, effectively squashing rumors that the popular show was going to be canceled. The executive producer, Duma Ka Ndlovu, disclosed that the forthcoming season will feature major modifications in order to appeal to a younger, trendier audience. The national broadcaster replayed previous episodes of the soap opera until its final episode aired on July 2nd, during which time discussions for contracts with Duma’s production firm were taking place.

Due to his long-term contracts with Mzansi Magic, the soapie’s close source told ZiMoja that Duma was no longer paying attention to him and that the SABC was not thrilled with the Muvhango narrative. Fan complaints and the realization that the slot was still drawing viewers and generating cash from advertising, however, were the main factors in the decision to revive the soap opera. The source informed the publication that “even the past seasons that were rerun after the last episode was aired were still bringing numbers.””Muvhango” will not only get a new logo and title, but it will also reintroduce well-known characters like Lebo Tisane, Wiseman Zitha, and the legendary Leleti Khumalo, who is joining the program. These additions will infuse the plot with new life.
