Former Scandal Actor Melusi Mbele Lands Starring Role On New Movie Alongside Katlego Danke and Vuyo Dabula
Melusi Mbele is set to play the lead in his debut feature film, The Butcher’s Soul, a Showmax Original that opens this Friday, August 2, 2024. Mbele previously won his first SAFTA for Best Actor in a TV Soap for Scandal! last year.





Following a brutal assault on his family, the angel of Death bestows upon a butcher seven days to deliver the guilty souls to her in return for his daughter’s life.In addition to his well-known performances in the Showmax films Umakoti Wethu, Rhythm City, Isibaya, and Muvhango, Melusi plays a full-fledged action hero in The Butcher’s Soul, where he plays Mthunzi, the butcher, and Skhova, his vigilante alter persona.
Winner of the SAFTA Danke (Gomora) and nominee for the African Movie Academy Award Vuyo Dabula (Five Fingers for Marseilles), among other notables, are Zinhle Mabena (Shaka iLembe), Bokang Phelane (Blood Psalms), and Tshepo Howza Mosese (co-host of The Ultimatum SA).
Kagiso Samuel Leburu, who won the Made for TV Film SAFTA for his breakthrough feature Okae Molao, debuted Month End at the Durban International Festival this month and is the director of The Butcher’s Soul. Adze Ugah, a four-time SAFTA winner who goes by Shaka iLembe, is the stunt director.
