Miss SA : Chidamma Gets Backlash After Being Seen Celebrating With Her  Family

Chidamma Competitive Miss South Africa 2024 competitor Vanessa Onwe Adetshina is a model and beauty pageant from South Africa who was born from Nigerian father and Mozambican mother according to different reports.



A Nigerian father and a Mozambican mother gave birth to Adetshina in Soweto in 2001, yet some sources state that her mother is actually a Zulu South African.She gave the authorities proof, which dispelled their uncertainty.



She is a University of Pretoria student now studying international relations. There has been controversy surrounding her participation in the Miss South Africa competition; some have called for her removal because of her dual citizenship and eligibility issues.

Due to her dual citizenship with Nigeria and South Africa, Adetshina’s ability to represent South Africa in the pageant has come under scrutiny. Contestants must be citizens of South Africa, per the pageant’s regulations.

Citing worries regarding Adetshina’s citizenship status, politician and social activist Anele Mda openly demanded that she be removed from the competition. For permitting Adetshina to compete despite having two citizenships, the Miss South Africa organization came under fire.

Adetshina’s dual citizenship has not prevented her from representing South Africa, according to some, while others felt that her Nigerian ancestry should prevent her from competing. The controversy spurred a broader discussion about citizenship, identity, and representation in the country.

The argument over Adetshina’s nationality was settled by the Department of Home Affairs. The deputy minister of home affairs, Njabulo Nzuza, addressed the controversy and attempted to clarify Adetshina’s citizenship status in an interview with Clement Manyathela on 702 News. He emphasized that he was bound by confidentiality and could not disclose sensitive information about any individual, including Adetshina.
