A medical drama telenovela from South Africa was called Durban Gen. As she completes her last year of community service at Durban General Hospital, Mbalenhle “Mbali” Mthethwa (Nelisiwe Sibiya), a recently trained doctor, moves to the large city and becomes the focus of the series. Between her supervisor, Dr. Lindelani Zulu (Mike Ndlangamandla), and her fiancé, Sibusiso Dlamini (Ntando Mncube), she is torn. She helps with a surgery that ends in a MEC’s death after arriving at the hospital. The hospital’s, Dr. Zulu’s, and Mbalenhle’s reputations are all at risk. Investigations are launched against Mbalenhle, endangering her professional future. Mbalenhle becomes a sangoma and a senior physician five years after Sbusiso’s passing.
