Role Summary
Job Title: Farm Worker
Reports To: Farm Supervisor / Section Manager
Remuneration: Market-related base pay + overtime + performance incentive
Start Date: ASAP
You’ll support planting, weeding, fertilising, pruning, harvesting, livestock care, irrigation set-up, basic farm maintenance, and quality checks. The work is physical, outdoors, and team-based. Training is provided.
Key Duties & Responsibilities

Field Operations

Prepare beds, plant seedlings/seeds, apply mulch and fertiliser as instructed

Hand-weeding, hoeing, and mechanical weeding support

Pruning, staking/trellising, thinning, and canopy management (orchards & vines)

Harvesting & Post-Harvest

Pick to spec, handle produce carefully to reduce damage

Sort and grade crops against quality standards

Packhouse support: box assembly, palletising, labelling, cold-room hand-offs

Irrigation & Water Management

Lay/repair drip lines, check emitters, flush lines

Monitor soil moisture and report irregularities to the supervisor

Machinery & Tools (Entry Level)

Assist with refuelling, cleaning tools, and safe storage

Shadow tractor operator; basic implement changes once trained

Education: Grade 10–12 (Matric advantageous)
